  • [Two-Factor Authentication:] "Invalid OTP" error was displayed when using 2FA with secondary authentication for local users in certain cases - fixed.

  • [Syteca Desktop Connection Manager:] Syteca Desktop Connection Manager failed to open for some users when the UBA feature was enabled - fixed.

Issue Fixed in the SaaS version: 

  • [Installing Windows Clients:] Certificates and ghostunnel were created in the wrong folder when reinstalling the Windows agent into a custom directory - fixed.

  • [Documentation:] SHA-256 hashes are now published directly in the Release Notes.

  • [Remote Password Rotation:] Credentials for password rotation can now be selected for Linux secrets.

Issues Fixed:

  • [Remote Password Rotation:] "The target machine is not a Linux system" error appeared when attempting password rotation on Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS - fixed.

  • [Using Secrets:]:
    - Web Account Secret launches in a resized Google Chrome window instead of full-screen mode - fixed.
    - Web Account Secret prompted users to select a search engine every time Chrome was launched - fixed.

  • [User Management:]:
    - Readers role users were able to edit User Activity Recording settings - fixed.
    - Blocked users were still able to log in to endpoints after some time, and their sessions were recorded normally - fixed.

  • [Syteca Forensic Player:] Syteca Forensic Player crashed when dragging the search bar during playback with audio enabled - fixed.

  • [SIEM Integration:] Clipboard activities were sent to Splunk in multiple lines instead of a single line - fixed.

  • [Updating the System:] Certain database errors related to the DROP TABLE command appeared in Server logs after upgrading from v5.4 to v7.22 - fixed.

Syteca® v. 7.23.100 (Build: 7.23.1637)

Improvement:

  • [Monitoring Linux Endpoints:] Support for AlmaLinux 9.7 and 10.1 has been verified for the existing Linux agent. More details regarding monitoring specifics can be found here.

Issue Fixed:

  • [Application Server:] Limited-permission (supervisor) internal users unable to access Management Tool data, causing empty dashboards and automatic logout due to PostgreSQL Server connection loss - fixed.

Syteca® Application Credentials Broker (ACB) v. 1.3.5 (Build: 1.3.5.235):

  • Added User Management API for ACB, providing endpoints for managing users, including creation, updates, and deletion.

Issues Fixed:

  • [Monitoring Linux Endpoints:]:
    - Nuke application crash on Rocky Linux 9.4 after Syteca agent installation - fixed.
    - Agent failed to start on Linux systems using certain network managers due to a dependency - fixed.
    - The lvs command on Linux may throw a ‘file descriptor leaked on lvs invocation’ error when run by a non-root user with the agent installed - fixed.
    - When running yq/jq on Ubuntu 22.04.5, certain preload errors are observed - fixed.
    - "Unlicensed Client Session" banner appears during SSH sessions on agents with assigned Workstation license - fixed.

Improvements: 

  • [Monitoring Linux Endpoints:] Support for AIX 7.3 has been verified for the existing AIX agent.

  • [Migration Tool:] Screenshot processing fails for new activities due to duplicate database entries, preventing screenshots from being saved – fixed.

Syteca® v. 7.23.70 (Build: 7.23.1484)

Issues Fixed:

  • [Monitoring Windows Clients:]:
    - Session recording fails due to lost GUID mapping after cross-tenant agent reassignment - fixed. 

- The client fails to write activity data to the offline pool when the database cannot accept or expand to store new data (e.g., due to NTFS limitations) - fixed.

  • [Dashboards:] The 'Sessions Outside of Work Hours' dashboard shows sessions recorded during work hours - fixed. 

  • [Session Forensic Export:] Exporting session fragment starting from current Player position fails with "Internal Server Error" - fixed. 

  • [SIEM Integration:] Secret-related events are not logged in SIEM - fixed.

  • [Using Secrets:] Credentials did not auto-fill on certain websites, and could not be inserted via the extension as it remained inactive - fixed. 

  • [Installing Windows Clients Remotely:] Internal Server Error appears when non-numeric or invalid IP values are entered in the Management Tool - fixed.

  • [Licensing:] Offline activation cannot be completed as no action occurs after selecting a file and clicking “Add” - fixed.

  • [Session Player:] Vertical monitor recorded sideways with Landscape (flipped) rotation - fixed.

NOTE: Golden Image Mode - When upgrading from older agent versions in the templates, a single duplicate agent entry may appear after the first deployment due to changes in the deployment logic. This behavior is expected and should not occur in subsequent deployments once the template is updated to agent version 7.23.70 or newer.

Issue Fixed in the SaaS version: 

  • [Azure SSO:] Azure SSO configuration settings are not saved and the page reloads instead - fixed.

Improvements: 

  • [Dashboards:] Replace time with URL in hints.

  • Renamed Clients to Endpoints.

Improvements:

• [SIEM Integration:] Special keys can now also be forwarded to SIEM systems, along with keystroke characters logged on Windows Clients.

Issues Fixed:

• [Keystroke Logging Using the Korean Keyboard Language:]:

- Other characters were also not displayed in the Session Viewer after deleting a character using the Backspace key - fixed.

- Korean characters were displayed as English keyboard input in Hancom Office applications - fixed.

- Korean characters, and English letters and numbers were not monitored in Hancom Office applications - fixed.

• [Using Secrets in SaaS:] The Password field was not filled out automatically while using a Web account secret, and the Google Chrome browser extension was also inactive - fixed.

• [Reports:] Detailed Activity Grid reports could not be generated (they were canceled automatically, after being generated for a considerable time) - fixed.

• [Displaying of an Additional Message on Login:] The Additional Message window was displayed with a delay when the Client was offline on Windows 11 Client computers - fixed.

• [Remote Password Rotation:] Password rotation on Unix account (SSH) secrets failed when using a custom port with the "The connection to the target computer was refused" error displayed - fixed.

• [Viewing System Errors and Warnings:] A false-positive data storage error notification was repeatedly being added to the System Health page (and to the logs, and being sent by email) - fixed.

• [Viewing the Serial Key and Licenses:] "An unlicensed Client session has started... ...for your Terminal Server (Limited Sessions)" error was displayed despite having an Infrastructure license and only 1 concurrent session - fixed.

• [Third-Party Products:] Some plugins have been updated (e.g. jQuery Validation v1.19.5) to fix vulnerabilities identified.

NOTE:

• [Monitoring Windows Clients:] The URL Monitoring option is currently unavailable for the Firefox browser. This limitation is due to certain performance issues observed in this browser. We plan to introduce a new implementation of URL Monitoring for Firefox in future releases.

Syteca® v. 7.23.58 (Build: 7.23.1107)

Issues Fixed:

• [Display Icon When Recording is in Progress:] When recording is not in progress (e.g. due to filtering options being used), the recording icon was erroneously displayed for a few seconds after rebooting the Client computer - fixed.

• [Viewing Client Sessions:] Remote IP addresses were not being detected when using the PCOIP connection protocol - fixed.

Syteca® v. 7.23.50 (Build: 7.23.878)

Improvements:

• [Display Icon When Recording is in Progress:] The icon displayed on Client computers can now be customized (including by uploading a custom icon to change its appearance, and configuring various new settings to change its behavior).

• [Management Tool UI:] Translations have been updated for the Spanish (ES) language localization.

 Issues Fixed:

• [Endpoint Access Control:] Black screenshots were displayed in the Session Player in certain cases involving users added with access restrictions when using a RemoteApp - fixed.

• [Keystroke Logging Parameters (for Windows Clients):] Various issues with detecting Korean keystrokes, etc. in different applications when the "Enable keystroke logging if the Korean keyboard language is used" option was enabled - fixed.

• [Register Idle Event Parameter (for Windows Clients):] The IDLE state was not always detected correctly in various cases - fixed.

Syteca® Application Credentials Broker (ACB) v. 1.3 (Build: 1.3.0.209)

Improvements:

• [ACB:] Many new API endpoints are now available - not only to get, but now also to add and manage, secrets' as well as folders' data.

Issues Fixed:

• [ACB:] Various vulnerabilities identified - have been fixed.

Syteca® v. 7.23 (Build: 7.23.863)

Improvements:

• [Application Server:] .NET 8.0 (.NET 8.0 Runtime and ASP.NET Core 8.0 Runtime) components now need to be installed, which can be done while installing or updating to Syteca Application Server v. 7.23 or higher (by clicking on the links in the list of missing required components displayed on the new Requirements page).

• [Application Server Issues and Error Messages:] SMBv2 or higher now needs to be enabled (since SMBv1 is no longer supported) when using a shared folder to store binary data before installing or updating to Syteca Application Server v. 7.23).

• [Syteca Encryption:] The RSA key length has now been increased to RSA-4096 data encryption for forensic export, as well as for the Syteca Master Certificate (after reissuing the Master Certificate for existing deployments, after first using the new "Migrate Master Certificate to 4096-bit" button to manually migrate to RSA-4096 encryption).

• [Configuring the PostgreSQL database:] When updating to or installing Syteca version 7.23+, a PostgreSQL database user with NOSUPERUSER privileges now requires extra privileges if a manually-created PostgreSQL database is used.

• [Management Tool UI:] A recently-updated offline version of this Knowledge Base is now available in the Management Tool interface.

• [Management Tool UI:] Translations have been updated for the Ukrainian (UA) language localization.

• [Management Tool UI:] Various refactoring to improve performance has been carried out (relating to database query optimization for loading the data on the Activity Monitoring page, modifying the Client permissions with many users / user groups, etc).

• [Syteca Tray Notifications Application:] The Tray Notifications application has been deprecated (and is therefore no longer available for downloading in the installation package from Syteca version 7.23).

• [File Upload Monitoring:] The "File Upload Monitoring" feature has a new name (it was previously called "File Monitoring"), and is now enabled by default.

• [Remote Password Rotation:] The minimum requirements for the new passwords generated during remote password rotation can now be customized (by adding keys in the Application Server .config file).

• [Database:] The database structure has been optimized. Please note that after updating Syteca, the data migration process will begin as soon as the Application Server starts up. Migration takes place in the background, and may take some time to complete and affect system performance while in progress. Recommendations for updating Syteca can be found on the Updating the System (Checklist & Best Practices) page.

Issues Fixed:

• [Password Management:] "The target machine is not a Linux system" error occurred when attempting to rotate the password (e.g. by using the Rotate Now button) on Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS machines - fixed.

• [Password Management:] The credentials from a Web account secret were not filled automatically (or when using the Syteca Form Filler extension) in the Google Chrome browser in certain cases - fixed.
